I would like to start by saying still no luck finding a part time job. I recently applied for a customer service job in a bank, wish me luck! If I don’t get it, it may be for the better so I can concentrate on my studies( I will say anything to cheer myself up ). I have to say statistics ended up being alot more funnier than I thought it would be. I don’t know why it gets no attention.

The financial crisis has hurt my portfolio badly but I’m still somewhere around $13000 in net worth. You might ask, only down from $16000 to $13000 in all this turbulence the past months? Not really. I lost a bit more but because I’ve saved cash and transferred it to my stock account, the fall doesn’t feel that bad, to be honest I have a good feeling about this market crash. I’ve taken some really cheap long term positions. I don’t mean individual stocks though( well I have some cash left there ), I’ve put almost all my money on emerging markets ETFs.

App. $10000 in funds. I have about $4000 cash and $2000 loan. The loan is a very “good” one, it happens to be subsidized and below 3% interest!

I’ve been granted a student state loan. The good thing about it: It’s a subsidized loan, with very reasonable interest and timeframe. But it’s still a loan. Anyway, my plans for the student loan isn’t to use it on living, because I have already taken care of that. I’m going to use it for investing in emerging markets. I’ll going to the specifics about my loan & investing plan later.

App. $650 in funds. ( added money from outside sources ). Everything is in Africa/India funds. I’m only going to invest in underdeveloped nations.

Not much to say since last million dollar goal update. Invested $120 in a India fund, $200 in a Africa fund. I’m going add more to emerging markets very soon, can’t resist these levels. Both Africa and India ( and pretty much all markets ) have seen a heavy drop, making it hard not to put money in.

I noted that Turkey has recovered strongly after its sharp decline past months. That’s good news for me because I’ve invested in East Capital Turkey ( swedish funds ). I see that my US holdings has performed very badly but it doesn’t really change anything, swings in stock price without news is not uncommon, not even big swings.

I don’t feel like gambling on ABK, there is a difference between financials and financials some simply won’t come back. I would bet on LYG and BAC to recover strongly when this crash is over!

I like the credit card business, they will only grow because of the society we live in, the market however doesn’t see Visa, Mastercard and the unappreciated American Express the same. I feel like AXP is one of the cheaper dow companies. Strong managment, strong stock holders ( berkshire ), strong earnings, strong brand, strong product, strong reputation. What is the problem? I myself have a Visa card, I’m paying about $5 a month for it. That might be the problem, AXP isn’t reaching out to as many regular joes as Mastercard and Visa.

I decided to spend my $50 bucks on two books instead. That doesn’t mean I will close my cheap brokerage however. I’m going to wait a while before I put in a small amount, there’s no rush in this bear market. UXG has started a trend upwards.  It closed at $2.33 yesterday.

I managed to make $50 bucks from an outside source. I don’t know what to do with it. I rather spend it then invest it, since it’s such a small amount. If I’m going to invest it, I’ll chose something very risky, like a Balkan fund. That’s the advantage of investing with small amounts, you suddenly fear nothing.

I don’t know what my next move will be. I’m in the red so I can’t sell anything. I would like to take a minor position in LYG and/or a foreign ETF if I had cash. I haven’t reached the $100 minimum amount in adsense to make a withdrawal. I intend to use all my adsense money on stocks/funds.

I haven’t really mentioned anything else besides my stock account. I’ve decided to include my adsense earnings also, because money is money. But I don’t know Google’s policy so I won’t post it just yet!

I don’t really know how to calculate my net worth if I add my “ad business”. Do I only include profit from ads or do I also calculate the worth of my site and add that too to my net worth?

So far it has been a bad month for my stock portfolio, both RBY and UXG is down and Istanbul Stock Exchange is on a downtrend ( I bought recently though). I have to say I’m growing more and more interested in Capital Trust. I think it has suffered a severe beating simply because it’s a financial stock and nothing else. I can’t really find anything wrong with the stock and it looks like a bargain for $25 a share. I haven’t decided yet, but I’m thinking about buying 100 shares.
